The Welsh Government has launched a 12-week public consultation on a draft Litter and Fly-tipping Prevention Plan for Wales.
The costs involved in clearing and investigating environmental offences can be a significant burden for all involved, including private land managers.
The draft plan aims to combine the antisocial behaviour of littering and fly-tipping under one plan in Wales. Fly tipping on public and private land is considered .
The draft plan has identified five key themes, which the Welsh Government believes are essential to delivering this. These are:
1. Waste Reduction.
2. Evidence, Monitoring & Evaluation
3. Education and Behaviour Change
4.Enforcement
5. Operational Delivery
The Plan aims to contribute towards achieving a zero waste Wales and making a more circular economy a reality where resources are valued and waste avoided.
The consultation closed on 25th March 2021 and the FUW Response can be viewed here.
