Giving

Every year the FUW and its members raise a large amount of money for our President's nominated charities. This year we are proud to support two worthy charities: The Farming Community Network (FCN) and the Alzheimer's Society Cymru.

FCN

The Farming Community Network (FCN) is a charity that supports farmers and families within the farming community through difficult times. FCN is a network of over 400 volunteers, with around 40 based in Wales, many of whom are involved in farming, or have close links with agriculture and therefore have a great understanding of the issues farmers and farming families regularly face. FCN runs a confidential national helpline and e-helpline which is open every day of the year from 7am-11pm. Volunteers provide free, confidential, pastoral and practical support to anyone who seeks help, whether the issue is personal or business-related.

Alzheimer's Society Cymru

Dementia is the leading cause of death in Wales, destroying memories, relationships and identities. Delaying the onset of dementia by just 5 years would halve the numbers of deaths from the condition, saving 30,000 lives a year. By supporting this service, we will be supporting the people affected by the condition in both rural and urban communities across Wales.

Snowdonia 6 Challenge

Wales’ highest mountain is calling Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) fundraisers once again - this time round the FUW team will tackle six routes in 12 hours, in order to raise funds for the Union President's charities: Alzheimer’s Society Cymru and The Farming Community Network (FCN).

Snowdon is one of Wales’ most famous landmarks, standing tall over the village of Llanberis. It is part of a close-knit family of jagged peaks and can offer views of Snowdonia, Anglesey, Pembrokeshire and Ireland.

Tackling the 1085 metre giant on Friday 22 June, fundraisers will have the choice whether to walk 1, 2 or 3 peaks on the day.

“This is another fantastic challenge our staff and members have set themselves to raise money for our charities. If you are interested in joining the team, either by walking or in a supporting role, please contact your local county office for more information,” said FUW President Glyn Roberts.
