Commodities Policy Officer Picture

Dr Hazel Anne Wright

Hazel is originally from Port Glasgow on the West coast of Scotland.  After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of Glasgow, Hazel came to Aberystwyth in 2000 to undertake a PhD in Parasitology at Aberystwyth University.  She was appointed as the FUW's Commodities Policy Officer in 2008.  Prior to this appointment, she has been involved in post-doctoral research projects encompassing a wide range of topics; including host-parasite interactions, energy budgets and trade-offs, parasite proteomics and environmental sustainability. Such projects included an investigation into the survival mechanisms of the sheep liver fluke, Fasciola hepatica and an examination of the ways in which parasite infection can alter the carcase quality of the host under a variety of feeding regimes.

She is married to Russ, a post- doctoral research scientist with the Parasitology group at Aberystwyth University.
