Policy Officer (Commodities)

Salary:            £22,608 - £23,742 per annum

Based at:       Plas Gogerddan, Aberystwyth

The Farmers' Union of Wales was established in 1955 in order to protect and advance the interests of Welsh farming families. We now have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join the policy team at our Head Office in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion.

The successful applicant will work as part of the Policy Department at the Union’s Aberystwyth headquarters, developing key policy areas, assembling, interpreting and analysing information, while also acting as secretariat for relevant Union committees.

Applicants will need to show evidence of strong written and oral communication skills, a high level of motivation and initiative, a firm interest in agricultural policy, and an ability to think analytically.

A good working knowledge of agricultural issues and an education to at least degree or equivalent level are desirable, as is the ability to communicate well through the mediums of Welsh and English.
