Proposal to recognise assured farm status in setting the frequency of official on-farm inspections in the dairy sector

The Food Standards Agency consulted on a proposal to reduce the frequency of official on-farm hygiene inspections in the dairy sector.

The reduction would be introduced for those dairy farmers which had been assessed by Animal Health Dairy Hygiene as lower risk and which also had Assured Dairy Farm status.

The overall objective of the proposal was to reduce the burden of offical controls on dairy production holdings in England and Wales by recognising, where applicable, the hygiene aspects of the results of audits carried out by Assured Dairy Farms, while maintaining consumer safety.

The closing date for responses was: 09 June 2010
