Consultation on the Animal By-Products (Enforcement) (Wales) Regulations 2011
The Welsh Assembly Government consulted on its proposal to update and replace the Animal By-Products (Wales) Regulations 2006.
Further to a review, change was sought to reduce the administrative burden and to provide legal certainty. Regulation 1069/2009 (to be implemented by the Animal By-Products (Enforcement) (Wales) Regulations 2011):
- provides greater clarity on the Regulations' scope;
- improves the categorisation of Animal By-Products corresponding with the risk posed;
- removes duplication of approval for certain premises;
- provides further derogations for Member States to use; and
- provides for the possibility of on farm containment of fallen stock prior to disposal subject to European Food Safety Authority approval.
The Animal By-Products (Enforcement) (Wales) Regulations 2011 will come into force on 04.03.2011.
The closing date for responses was: 10 September 2010
